Austrian Alps Elopement Photographer | Bonnie & Felix

Some places don’t just become destinations. They become memories you never quite leave behind. For Felix, that place had always been the mountains. Years ago, he visited the French Alps and dreamed of returning one day.
So, when he and Bonnie decided to celebrate twelve years together by saying “I do,” they reached out to me. They wanted a peaceful elopement in the Austrian Alps, surrounded by mountains and untouched nature. And I knew exactly where to take them.

A Weekend Elopement in the Austrian Alps

Instead of celebrating for only a few hours, we turned their elopement into a whole weekend. My husband’s family owns a traditional mountain cabin in Maria Alm, about an hour from Salzburg. His grandfather built it decades ago, and much of its original charm remains today.
It isn’t a luxury hotel. Instead, it offers something much more special: simplicity, warmth, and a true connection to the mountains.

On the first day, we enjoyed local Austrian food and explored the nearby forest. Bonnie picked wild blueberries and raspberries along the way. There was no pressure and nowhere to rush. The next morning started with coffee, homemade breakfast, and mountain views from the balcony. Afterward, Bonnie walked barefoot through the garden and created her own bouquet from wildflowers and grasses.

It was simple, natural, and completely her.

Saying “I Do” at Großglockner

Later, we drove towards the Großglockner High Alpine Road. Along the way, we passed wildflower meadows, grazing cows, alpine marmots, and endless mountain peaks. Even the drive became part of their adventure.
Finally, we arrived at a quiet meadow surrounded by the Austrian Alps. Bonnie and Felix sat down on a picnic blanket and wrote their vows by hand. Then, surrounded by wildflowers and mountains, they exchanged their promises and rings. The wind moved through the grass while bumblebees flew between the flowers. Even my little poodle Bear joined them as their honorary witness.

There were no rows of guests or big decorations. There didn’t need to be. The mountains, wildflowers, cows, bees, and gentle breeze made the moment feel complete. Then, nature gave us one final surprise.

A flock of sheep wandered across the meadow. Their bells echoed through the valley while we all burst into laughter.
It felt like the Austrian Alps were celebrating with us.
